5 Common House Plants That Are Super Easy to Care For

House plants are more popular now than they ever have been in previous generations. And most of these house plant enthusiasts are millennials

Why?

We might not be able to afford homes or children, but we can afford house plants. There’s only one problem. Most of us are terrible at keeping them alive.

Here’s a quick list of five common house plants that are super easy to take care of.

1. Aloe

Aloe is a succulent that can grow as tall as 3 feet high indoors. All it needs is plenty of sunlight and dry soil.

That means you can put it on the windowsill and forget about it. If you’re a bad house plant caregiver, you’re probably going to do this anyway. So you might as well have a plant that will thrive without your attention.

As long as you can remember to water it once a week in the summer and twice a month in the winter, you can’t kill this plant.

Aloe also has medical properties. Not only does it look good, you can use it to stay healthy.

2. Snake Plant

Again, this plant is a succulent, so it doesn’t need a lot of water. If you give it too much water, you can make it rot and die. The soil must be dried all the way through before you water your snake plant.

Depending on the light, temperature, and moisture levels in your home, you might only have to water your snake plant every two to six weeks.

This is a great house plant for beginners because it’s so easy to take care of. If you’re lucky, you might even see it bloom some of it’s rare, white flowers.

3. Peace Lilly

These beautiful white flowers bloom in dim light and mild temperatures. This makes them a great choice for rooms without a lot of windows or homes that don’t get much sunlight.

Water your Peace Lily at least once a week to keep the soil moist. You can tell your Lily needs more water if it starts to droop. Spray the leaves and flowers with a watered mist during the warm season.

4. Air Plant

Air plants grow without soil. You don’t have to worry about making sure the dirt is dry or moisturize. To care for these plants, you just have to give them a “bath” once a week.

Watering an air plant consists of soaking it in a bowl of water for about an hour. While it can survive with one soak a week, give your air plant two or three for the best care.

Make sure you give it one longer soak, about two hours, every three weeks or so.

5. Spider Plant

Spider plants are eye-catching, unique, and fast growing. The shoots produce little “baby” spider plants you can grow in new pots. You might want to buy a variety of planters at PLANTZ.

If you want a lot of greenery in your home, the spider plant is a good place to start.

Keep the plant out of direct sunlight and leave the soil moist. You should water this plant once a week to prevent it from drying out.
