There’s a major benefit to using Sony Crackle: they’re owned by Sony Pictures, which means they’re well-stocked with full-length, big-name movies you’ve actually heard of, complete with your favorite Hollywood actors.

They have great video quality, lots of video player options, and a surprisingly great mobile app so you can watch movies on your daily commute home from work.

3. Popcornflix

It’s got a reminder to bring your favorite snack in the title, how bad can it be?

Seriously though, Popcornflix has a constant stream of new movies coming in from Screen Media Ventures, on top of the roughly 1,500 films they already have in their library.

All movies play in a large screen player, and the site has extra functionality while the movie is playing. For example, you can leave a comment pinned to a certain part of the movie (so you don’t become the absolute worst person ever and spoil plot points for everyone).

Vudu is better known for its digital rentals and sales, which is a real shame because Vudu Movies on Us has a selection that makes it one of the best you can find on the Internet.

It provides full, uncut movies with limited commercials (before you can complain, the commercials are how the movies are hosted for free). You still have to register with Vudu to use the service, but you don’t have to pay a cent for it (unless you decide to go for one of their rentals).

5. Viewster

If you’re looking for a streaming site with truly phenomenal functionality, look no further than Viewster.

Movies on Viewster can be sorted by popularity, staff picks, and other filters. They partner HBO, BBC, STARZ, and other well-known companies, so your options are pretty wide-ranging.

Keep in mind, though, that you can’t enable subtitles, and you can’t turn off subtitles if they’re embedded in the film.

6. Putlocker

Oh come on, there was no way you were getting through an article about free movie streaming sites without a reference to Putlocker, the longtime friend of broke college students across America.

Is there much we can say about Putlocker that you didn’t discover with college friends over cheap rum and onion rings at 3 AM? They have a solid selection and are generally user-friendly so long as your Internet is cooperative.

Not to be confused with YouTube, Tubi has a ton of high-quality, free movies. Think somewhere in the thousands.

Some have to be rented, but many of them are completely free to stream. They have a huge range of genres to choose from Women First to Best of British. They even have a Not on Netflix section.

If you’re a Rotten Tomatoes person, you can even go through a Highly Rated on Rotten Tomatoes section.

8. Classic Cinema Online

Pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, Classic Cinema Online focuses on the classics. Casablanca, anyone?

Even the look of the website has a certain vintage cinema feel with a backdrop of red curtains. Of all the gin joints in all the world, this is a pretty good one to walk into.

Okay, to be fair, the inclusion of Muscle Beach Party might make you question their definition of “classic” but still.

9. Top Documentary Films

Like your cinema with a dose of real life? Look no further than the aptly titled Top Documentary Films.

Films are organized into easy categories like history, mystery, politics, science, conspiracy, and other straightforward classifications.

You can sign up for email alerts when new documentaries are added to their library, and lots of those movies are available in high-def with zero advertisements.
