We are going to share 5 of our favorite homestyle farm recipes.

For our dishes that are abundant with vegetables, we recommend you purchase locally grown vegetables.

Furthermore, you want to make sure that the farmers are utilizing healthy soil practices when growing their crops.

Now let’s start cooking!

1. Broccoli and Cauliflower Cheese Soup

Soup is a great way to start a meal and this soup combines vegetables and delicious cheese of your choice!

Ingredients 

  1. 3 Tbps of Butter
  2. White onion
  3. Garlic
  4. Plain flour
  5. Stock
  6. Milk
  7. Broccoli and cauliflower
  8. Salt and pepper
  9. Cream
  10. Pinch nutmeg

For cheese, it is up to you. Choose at least two of your favorite cheeses.

Instructions

Melt the butter in a large pot. Once melted, add the cloves of garlic and the chopped onion. Once these are simmering, add the flour. Continue mixing until everything is coated with the flour.

Add your stock until you reach a consistency you like.

Then add your abundance of broccoli and cauliflower! Once everything is melded together you can pout your mixture into a bowl.

Finally, pour in the salt and pepper, cheeses, cream, and pinch nutmeg

Once the cheese is melted, you are ready to eat!

2. Creamy Chicken and Noodles

This is a great starter dish. Quick to make and is a great source of protein.

Ingredients 

  1. 3 Tbps of Butter
  2. 3 Tbps of Plain Flour
  3. Chicken Broth
  4. Milk
  5. Herbs of your choice. Choose at least two
  6. Salt and pepper
  7. Cream cheese
  8. Shredded cooked chicken
  9. Green onions
  10. Egg noodles

Instructions

You’ll first have to boil the egg noodles. Usually, the package they come in will give you the instructions for this.

In the meantime, prepare the chicken. Remember that your chicken must be cooked and shredded beforehand.

Afterward, place a frying pan on medium heat and melt your butter on it. Once it is melted, pour in the flour and mix until it makes a paste consistency.

When the paste is made, pour in the chicken broth and the milk and continue to mix until you meet a thick consistency. You’ll then add the herbs of your choice along with the salt and pepper. Once these are delved into the mixture, you can add your cream cheese.

Finally, once you have cooked for a few minutes and have a creamy consistency add your chicken and green onions.

Once you have reached a consistency you like, you are ready to serve the creamy chicken over the egg noodles!

3. The Farmer’s Salad

Let’s have some more delicious greens next. The farmer’s salad is next on the menu!

Ingredients 

  1. 16 ounces of your favorite pasta
  2. 2 Squashes
  3. Zucchini
  4. Red Onion
  5. Olive oil
  6. Salt and pepper
  7. Cheese of your choice
  8. Grape tomatoes
  9. Basil
  10. Nuts of your liking
  11. Lemon juice

Instructions

First, you must dice your cheese into small cubes. Another option is to shred your cheese and keep it in a bowl.

Then, cook your pasta and leave it in a bowl and set it aside.

Pour a few teaspoons (up to your liking) on your vegetables (tomato is a fruit) and a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook these in a frying pan for 10 minutes. They should be tender.

Dice the vegetables after cooking and set them aside.

Grab a small bowl and pour three tablespoons of lemon juice. Mix with six tablespoons of olive oil. Once they are mixed together, add all of your pasta and vegetables together.

Then, add your cheese and tomatoes and nuts. You can pour a dressing of your choice or eat it as it is.

4. Pork Chops

Now onto a delicious main course!

Ingredients 

  1. Thinly-sliced pork chops
  2. Butter
  3. Fresh parsley
  4. Olive oil
  5. Balsamic vinegar
  6. Honey
  7. Dijon mustard
  8. Minced shallot
  9. Garlic
  10. Salt and pepper

Instructions

Set aside the pork chops, butter, and parsley. Place the pork chops into a zipper bag.

Add all of the other ingredients into a mason jar. We recommend half a cup of olive oil and another half cup of the balsamic vinegar. 2 teaspoons of the dijon mustard and one teaspoon the honey will also suffice.

Shake the mason jar until everything is mixed nicely. You now have your marinade! Pour this marinade into a bowl and place the pork chops (still in the bag) into the marinade for 6 hours. If you have time, keep it in the marinade for an entire day.

Once marinated, heat a frying pan with olive oil. Once heated, place half of the pork chops in the pan and cook them. About 5 minutes should do it.

Then repeat this with the remainder of the pork chops. When finished wrap all pork chops in foil.

Turn your frying pan to low heat and pour the marinade in. Once it is liquid, add the butter to give it thickness.

Finally, add your pork chops and parsley and you are ready to go!

5. Apple Pie

And now, what the whole family has been waiting for! A delicious apple pie for dessert!

Ingredients 

  1. All-Purpose Flour
  2. White Sugar
  3. Salt
  4. Baking Powder
  5. Shortening
  6. 2 Large Eggs
  7. Cold Water

The above seven ingredients will be used for the pie. These next ingredients are for the filling.

  1. 5 pounds of tart apples. These should be thinly sliced
  2. Lemon juice
  3. White Sugar
  4. Brown Sugar
  5. Cinnamon
  6. Nutmeg
  7. Salt
  8. Whole Milk

Instructions

Grab a large bowl and mix the flour (5 cups), white sugar (4 teaspoons), half a teaspoon of salt and half a teaspoon of baking powder.

Once mixed, and 1 1/2 cups of shortening. Continue mixing until the mixture resembles crumbs.

In a separate bowl, break the two eggs and add the yolk. Pour in 3/4 cup of the cold water. Mix until they are combined.

Add this combination to the mixture in your large bowl. Mix everything until you can form it into a ball.

Cut the dough in half and place it on a baking pan.

Pour four teaspoons of the lemon juice on half of the apples. Place the apples over the dough. Sprinkle 3/4 of the white sugar and the brown sugar each. Sprinkle one teaspoon of cinnamon and half a teaspoon of nutmeg.

Add the remaining apples and pour a little bit of sugar over it. Place the remaining dough over this combination. You can brush the top of the dough with whole milk and a couple of teaspoons of white sugar.

Make sure you cut vents in the top of the dough and then bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. After 50 minutes, your apple pie should be golden brown and is ready to eat!
