Live Crabs

Hey, if we’re going to talk about strange items in a vending machine, we might as well start off right.

You can buy live crabs in many Japanese vending machines make a tasty treat while you’re on the go. The vending machine is equipped to keep the crabs cool and healthy, so when you buy one you know it will be fresh and ready to eat.

There are also vending machines that sell lobster, in case you have a taste for that too.

Used Underwear

Yep. It’s exactly what it sounds like.

This strange vending machine idea originated in Japan (get used to hearing this a lot) and was a way for young women to make some quick cash off of their gently used goods.

Talk about unhygienic.

Thankfully, Japan has recently outlawed the practice of selling used underwear in vending machines, but new underwear can – and is – still being sold.

Everybody loves when their dog is clean, but no one wants to give him a bath. Thankfully, you don’t have to do that anymore.

Ok, ok. Let’s be clear here. The real problem isn’t that adult entertainment still exists; it’s that you can still buy it in paper format in 2018.

In any case, this vending machine item is hot in places like Japan (of course) where you can find a whole host of naughty books to satisfy your, uh, needs.

Now, who doesn’t want a fresh, hot pizza to go?

Simply put in the money and answer the simple “yes” or “no” questions that the machine asks, and if you’re compatible, congrats! You can get married.

Even though this is not an official marriage, it certainly feels like one, with the machine telling you when to kiss the bride, a certificate of marriage, and even a pair of rings you can give to each other.

Gold Bars

If you want to look like a million bucks, you need to check out what’s next on the vending machine item list.

There are still countries out there that would rather have their currency in gold bars than in green paper, so whenever residents need to change their credits to physical money, they stop by one of these guys.

It’s pretty much like using an ATM here, except they have gold, and we…well, we don’t.

We’ve got to admit, this would be pretty random to see on a casual walk around the city.
