Achieving Your Goals in 2019: How to Make Resolutions You’ll Keep

New year new me! We all know that that’s not true. There’s something about the new year that has everyone thinking that this year will be a fresh start.

There are quite a few things you can do to make sure the resolution you make is the right one and you start achieving your goals. We’re sure you don’t want to be a part of the 80 percent who give up by February.

That’s why we’ve put together some tips to help you make it all year long.

Don’t Be Corny About It

You want your goal to be something that is meaningful to you, not something you got out of a fortune cookie.

Ones like “Be a better me” should be avoided at all costs.

Your resolution should be about personal development goals, things that are near and dear to you as a person. Not something that society has made you think your news resolution should be.

“See the wold” is another one that is overdone, but if you have a specific place that you’ve always wanted to see – like Australia then it might be a good goal for you anyway.

Figure Out What You Really Want

The best way to make sure you’re going to stick to your New Year’s resolution is to make sure that it’s something that you really want for your life.

“Be a better me”

But why? What does that mean to you? Maybe it’s getting up on time for work, or judging people less, or smiling more.

Leaving it at being better, is not going to give you the motivation you need to keep going all year.

It’s easy to say I want to make more money but how? Sitting down and really thinking about what is at the core of the resolution you want to make. If it’s more money then that could mean you want to get better at selling or that you want to find a new job.

It’s up to you to make sure what you choose actually has some meaning.

Make It Something Flexible

If you lay out your goal too stringent, then it doesn’t leave much room for life. For instance, if your goal is to work out every weekday, you don’t leave yourself much wiggle room. Then when life does happen, maybe traffic or you forget your workout clothes at home – you might feel like you failed.

You can keep that same goal just maybe 5 days a week, some outcome but you give yourself a break.

As the year goes on your life or the way you feel about things might change. That’s okay, be flexible and give yourself a break.

Achieving Your Goals is Possible

You can do it. Keeping up with your New Year’s resolution can be easy as long as you make sure you choose something that is right for you and that you stay flexible.

If you keep these things in mind you will be well on your way to achieving your goals. For more tips – check out our blog.
