Photographer Anna Mika – The Beauty of Decay
Photographer Anna Mika has a fantastic eye and real sense of adventure.
While most of us would have to think twice before stepping into an eerie, abandoned factory or decaying hospital, the 25 year old from Poland clambers straight in.
Her latest collection is called Urbex – Urban Exploration, and features long forgotten buildings from all over Europe.
One of the most widely publicised shots from the exhibition is that of the decrepit 14th century St George’s church in Lukova, Czech Republic. The haunting image features ghostly, hooded figures hunched over pews or walking down the aisles.
“There is something enticing about abandoned places.” She said. “One can feel the past in such places, they have a peculiar smell. The nature is inevitably reclaiming them.”
