Stressed Russians Pay To Smash Up A Room With A Sledgehammer

When life’s stresses take their toll, some of us like to put in an extra workout, or go for a hard run. In Russia, some like to smash up a room with a sledgehammer. And we happen to think it’s a great idea.

This new stress busting trend allows people to pay to enter a room, and smash the living &^%$ out of it.

It all began as art project, known as ‘Debosh’. However, the concept has caught the imagination of stressed out Russians and has spread like wildfire.

Whether you’ve had a bad day at work, a huge fight with your spouse, or you just need a way to vent, citizens can fork out between $160 to $450 (the costs vary depending on the quality and amount of furniture you intend to total).

Once inside, you can go absolutely mental without risk of harming anyone, or the men in white coats coming to take you away.

People have been visiting the ‘Rage Rooms’ in the droves. In the words of one satisfied customer:

I decided to start with the TV, I imagined that it must break very nicely, making a lot of noise with special effects. I had absolutely no thoughts in my head, and it was an amazing experience. I was so pleased when I finished up with the room, my body felt absolutely great.”

According to psychologist Yuriy Adamovskiy, a release of this nature can do wonders for your health:

If a person has no way to channel negative emotions out of the body, they tend to build up and can cause health problems later on.”

The service should not replace professional mental help, the founders say

Aleksey Boritskiy, the brains behind Project Debosh has many more ideas that he wishes to offer the public. One such plan is to hold competitions to see who can throw computers the farthest, “there are a lot of people who get very frustrated about computers, so this could well be very popular,” he said.

Most rage room entrepreneurs, including Boritskiy, state that venting out in rage room is a great way to let off steam, however they do acknowledge that it is only a form of entertainment, not an alternative to mental therapy.
