The same can be said for trying out a golf course. So let people join for a short period of time with a seasonal membership. It could be an actual season or a designated amount of time, such as three months.

After that period of time, they can pay for a full membership. And for added value, offer to deduct the price of the seasonal membership from the full membership, then it’s like they got it free.

2. Consider Your Course Design

Does your current course design make members want to take their golf carts and veer off course?

To satisfy golfers and keep them coming back, the putting greens need to be perfect. So the design of your course must take firmness, slope, and speed into account. These are the three prime things by which golfers judge a course.

Once you’ve established that the greens are firm and fast, ensure that there’s great drainage and irrigation systems. These will go a long way toward keeping the greens maintained.

3. Create a Spouse Program

Do you have much in the way of couples who both have a membership with your club? If not, you may want to consider offering an incentive for them.

To draw more couples, some clubs offer a second membership at a discount of up to 30 percent. Plus, they’ll waive the entry fee for the second member since the entry fee is already paid on the primary membership.

The math is simple. The more couples you have involved in your club, the more play you’ll get.

4. Establish Maintenance Schedules

One of the most important aspects of management includes creating a maintenance routine. In their focus on completing their jobs, some maintenance crews may not realize the impact they’re having on gameplay.

By creating a maintenance routine that accounts for this, crews can get their work done without causing any disruption.

Effective scheduling involves knowing how long maintenance tasks take and how much time players need per hole. Once you have this information, you can use golf course management software to coordinate maintenance with scheduled games.

5. Appeal to Previous Members

A previous member is easier to recruit than a new member. That’s because they already know the ropes.

Once you’ve instituted any necessary changes to the golf club to make it more ideal, inform those previous members of those changes. Send them a personal invitation to come back.

You might find that their circumstances have changed. They might have more time or even be in a better financial state. And they’ll feel special when they receive that personal invitation inviting them back to the club.
